Why Anthracite Fields?

Near Scranton and Wilkes-Barre, PA is some of the cleanest burning coal known as anthracite coal.  First discovered in 1790 in Pottsville, anthracite coal spurred a mining industry, labor disputes, and energy for homes and trains.  It’s controversial nature has added to the folk lore of PA history that its descendants still carry today.  Find out more about the anthracite fields and its inspiration for our premiere of Anthracite Fields in April 2014.
